The story features a colony ship, Covenant, heading for a planet that they think will be great but actually may hide some dark and terrible secrets this last shouldn't come as much of a surprise as it wouldn't be an Alien movie if things didn't go very badly. Well, this update of the incredibly successful syndicated television series has a massive rock front and center — Dwayne Johnson. Zach Efron, Alex Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera also star in the movie directed by Seth Gordon. The tale finds Johnson's lifeguard having trouble with a newbie Efron whom Johnson is required to include on the Baywatch team against his wishes. As with previous films, Geoffrey Rush will be reprising the role of Barbossa too. Naturally, this poses as problem for Jack who sets his sights on the Trident of Poseidon as his one hope for survival. Perhaps against his will, Jack finds help from an astronomer, Carina Smyth Kaya Scodelario , and a sailor in the Royal Navy, Henry Brenton Thwaites , to help him on his quest. Last year may not have been the greatest of years for DC movies, but while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice generally earned mixed to negative reviews, one of the elements people seemed most pleased with was Gal Gadot's take on Wonder Woman. Now, here she is in her own film, a movie which will tell the tale of Diana learning of a war out in the world and leaving her home in order to help stop evil from spreading. Cars 3 Release Date: June 16 US , July 14 UK , June 22 AU If you watched the first teaser for you may very well have been devastated by what you witnessed; Lightning McQueen, it seems, is going to be hitting an entirely different sort of rough patch in this entry. On the other hand, before the heartbreak, perhaps you were mesmerized by how incredible the animation looked in that teaser. Oh, and there are these robots that can turn into vehicles and back again, some of the robots are bent on destroying everything in their path to becoming the ultimate power in the universe, other robots want to save the universe, there is going to be a whole lot of action, and… King Arthur? Trey Parker is voicing a bad guy… unless you really feel like Gru is the bad guy which would make Parker's bad guy the other bad guy unless two bad guys are too many. But, however you want to think about it, Parker's character, Balthazar Brat, was an '80s pop star back in the day before going evil. Spider-Man: Homecoming Release Date: July 7 US, UK , TBA AU After less than stellar receptions with two Amazing Spider-Man entries, Sony and Marvel worked out a deal to put Spider-Man into the MCU and last year featured Tom Holland's first appearance as the character in Captain America: Civil War. Now, Spidey's back in his own film, which is not to say that it will be wholly without any of our other MCU friends. For instance, Robert Downey Jr. Michael Keaton and Marisa Tomei are in the cast, which is being directed by Jon Watts. War for the Planet of the Apes Release Date: July 14 US, UK , July 13 AU The current run of Apes movies, of which this is the third, seem to be slowly working their way towards the world we first saw through the eyes of Charlton Heston back in the late 1960s well a version of that world anyway. In War, Andy Serkis again plays Caesar in this movie directed by Matt Reeves. The movie also stars Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller, and Terry Notary. Dunkirk Release Date: July 21 US, UK , July 20 AU How closely this Christopher Nolan film will hew to the true story of the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of Allied troops which took place in Dunkirk in 1940 remains to be seen, but the first trailer certainly makes for some tense viewing. The story of the rescue is a famous one and certainly worthy of the cast Nolan has put together, which includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, and Harry Styles. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Release Date: July 21 US , Aug. DeHaan is Valerian to Delevingne's Laureline, and both work as operatives who are tasked with keeping peace in the universe. On a personal level, Valerian would like to see their relationship turned romantic while Laureline is not so sure about that. Clive Owen plays their commander who sends them to the city of Alpha, which features 17 million inhabitants from thousands of different species, and not everyone is nice and happy-go-lucky. Maybe though one of them will be able to explain how a single city can have a thousand planets, because we're curious. The Dark Tower Release Date: July 28 US, UK , July 27 AU Yes, it's happening. Idris Elba is our gunslinger, Roland Deschain; Matthew McConaughey is our man in black, Walter; and Tom Taylor is Jake Chambers. But, just because it's going to be on the big screen doesn't mean that what we're going to get is a full on, 100% unabridged and unaltered adaptation of King's novel. You can be certain however that whatever director Nikolaj Arcel does alter will be highly scrutinized by longtime fans of the novels. Hopefully it manages to satisfy both those fans and bring newcomers into the fold, but its quest is a difficult one. Baby Driver Release Date: Aug. Elgort plays Baby, a getaway driver for a group of bank robbers, with Spacey playing the crime boss in charge. Baby, it seems, has an affinity not just for driving, but for music as well and would like to find a way to leave his current mode of employment. Annabelle 2 Release Date: Aug. The story features a dollmaker and his wife taking in a nun and some orphans, and the possessed doll not being terribly pleased with that state of affairs. Exactly how does she show this displeasure? Can she be stopped? Will we be able to sleep after getting the answers to those questions? Will this franchise ever combine universes with the Child's Play one in order to offer up the ultimate evil doll fight? Back in the day, 1990 to be precise, the classic Stephen King novel featuring Pennywise the Clown, which terrified readers, was turned into a miniseries which terrified viewers. Now, director Andrés Muschietti is bringing the story of disappearing children in Derry, Maine to the big screen to scare the bejesus out of a whole new generation. Bill Skarsgård is playing the evil clown in question and the nightmares of many will be returning because, as we all know, they all float down here a very phrase that gives many nightmares. The cast also includes Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Nicholas Hamilton. Blade Runner 2049 Release Date: Oct. The question has been plaguing fans of Ridley Scott's adaptation of Phillip K. Dick's novel for decades. Director Denis Villeneuve is helming this sequel which may not answer the question, but will most definitely see Harrison Ford return as Deckard, and Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright starring alongside him. The story is set to pick up years after the original film or perhaps one of the alternate versions of the original film and give us a whole new look at one potential future for our world. Expect replicants, police, and many questions. Kingsman The Golden Circle Release Date: Oct. Members of the original cast, including Taron Egerton, will be returning for the sequel which will add Channing Tatum and more. So, get out your best suit, and never forget, manners maketh man. Thor: Ragnarok Release Date: Nov. So, there are plenty of questions swirling around this third entry in the Thor series, like, is this Chris Hemsworth's last outing as the Norse god? While we can't answer that here, we do know that Mark Ruffalo is going to be in the movie as Bruce Banner and that Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins are all returning. Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Sam Neill, and Karl Urban are all also in the film, which is directed by Taika Waititi What We Do in the Shadows. Justice League Release Date: Nov. The movie promises to offer up not just The Dark Knight, but Wonder Woman Gal Gadot , The Flash Ezra Miller , Aquaman Jason Momoa , Cyborg Ray Fisher , and even the last son of Krypton Henry Cavill. Zack Snyder, who directed both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, is in command here once again, and seeing all these characters in one movie on the big screen is a dream come true for many.
